The 200 MeV cyclotron facility

Description

The vacuum system has been continuous in service during the last year and the required vacuum has been available whenever needed. Power failures have caused the most problems, requiring the system to be started up again after each power failure. The two 6,5 m3/s turbo-molecular pumps on the north and south valley chambers were replaced with two 2,2 m3/s turbo-molecular pumps. Both cryopumps required some repair work and the bearings on two 2 m3/s turbo pumps had to be replaced. Only a few leaks have had to be repaired and an operating pressure of 1x10-4 Pa and less was maintained
