Design and construction of an experimental apparatus for gamma spectrometry

Description
This paper report the conception of an experimental apparatus, to be applied in the development of nuclear material parameter research and in defense actions of the Brazilian army (EB). Its idealization encompasses shield design concepts and good detection geometry, establishing the necessary conditions for the validation of the proposed experimental apparatus. Validation is performed through testing using an HPGe detector, gamma emitting sources, 152Eu, 137Cs, 60Co, and Pb and Al attenuator material of varying thickness and 99% purity. The conception and design of the apparatus are finalized, currently experimental results are being obtained and simulated
