Phases in a samarium-copper system

  • 1. AN SSSR, Sverdlovsk. Inst. Fiziki Metallov

Description

The X-ray diffraction method was used to investigate the structure of single crystal and polycrystalline specimens of three alloys of the samarium-copper system corresponding to the SmCu4, SmCu5 and SmCu6 approximate compositions. The alloys were studied both as in cast state and after annealings for 5-10 h at 650, 750 and 790 deg C. It was found that the Sm-Cu system contains three phases: SmCu4, SmCu5 and SmCu6. The structure of the first phase has not been determined. The last two phases have the structures of CeCu4 and CeCu6, respectively
