Charge distribution differences of lead isotopes from elastic electron scattering and core polarisation effect

  • 1. Dept. of Physics, City College, Calcutta (India)

Description

High energy elastic electron scattering provides accurate charge density distribution. The occupation of 3ssub(1/2) protons plays a vital role in the charge distribution differences of even lead isotopes. A model potential which considers the effect of core polarization and fragmentation of shell model states in the doubly-closed shell nucleus 208Pb has been developed and utilized in deriving the charge density distribution of sup(204,206,208)Pb. Further Fourier Bessel analysis of the charge distributions provides useful model-independent comparison with experiment. (author). 10 refs., 2 ta bs
