Description
An experimental technique and measurements of the current-voltage characteristics of a liquid-xenon ionization chamber irradiated with X-rays are described. A method for extrapolating a current-voltage characteristic to zero electric field in order to determine the fraction f0 of ionization electrons which have not recombined is proposed. Using the literature data and extrapolation technique, the value of f0 for electrons with an energy of about 1 MeV in liquid argon and xenon has been determined
