Right aortic arch - computed tomography diagnosis

Right aortic arch (RAA) is an anatomic variation which occurs in approximately 0.05% to 0.1 % of the population. There are three types of RAA depending the branching of the aortic arch vessels. Usually if not associated with congenital cardiac anomaly, RAA does not cause any symptoms. However, sometimes complaints such as cough or dysphagia might lead to the detection of RAA. The aim of this article is to share our experience with right aortic arch and to reveal its radiological features. We present five cases of RAA. In four of them the right aortic arch was incidental finding and the CT exam was performed for another reason. Key words: Right Aortic Arch. CT Aortography
