Intensity of oxygen supply to the surface and the corrosion of pearlitic steel

Description

An equation which enables to estimate oxygen concentration in flow of fluid at which pearlite steel will be in a passive state, is derived. For this purpose, the dependence of the true rate of cathode process on the mixing rate is established; the value of complete passivation potential is determined depending on pH of medium in the near-surface layer of metal. The estimated value of oxygen concentration in water required for pearlite steel passivation (0.18 mg/kg) is in a good agreement with 0.2 mg/kg value which is practically used to decrease corrosion of these steel in water
