Effect of solution chemical composition on determination of berkelium-249 by liquid scintillator method
- 1. AN SSSR, Moscow. Inst. Geokhimii i Analiticheskoj Khimii
Description
Determination of sup(249)Bk by the liquid scintillator method has some advantages over determination on a proportional flow counter. The effect of nitric, sulphuric acids and ammonium oxalate on the sup(249)Bk counting efficiency has been studied. Nitric and sulphuric acids are strong scintillation extinguishers; relationships are given between the counting coefficients and acid contents in the scintillating solution. Ammonium oxalate does not affect the sup(249)Bk counting efficiency. The counting coefficients for sup(249)Bk have been determined for working solutions obtained by using a coprecipitation procedure of separating Bk(4)
