Nuclear fuel capabilities in Spain

Creators

  • 1. Empresa Nacional de Uranio, Madrid (Spain)

Description

Spain's 5800-MW nuclear power capacity generates more than 30 % of the country's electricity. The two additional plants that will load fuel during 1987 will add 2000 MW, and the complete programme is supported in the nuclear fuel cycle, through ENUSA's (Empresa Nacional del Uranio SA) activities at the front end of the cycle. The three main branches of the company namely; mining, enrichment procurement services, and fuel design and manufacturing; operate under a joint strategy, which guarantees the supply of reliable and competitive nuclear fuel that will keep Spain's electricity generating costs at a minimum
