Creep rupture failure of reactor pressure vessel lower head during severe accidents
Description
A creep rupture analysis of a reactor pressure vessel lower head subjected to high temperature and pressure during a severe accident is presented herein. Preliminary results show that creep rupture failure will take place at temperatures of approximately 10000K. These temperatures are significantly lower than the melting temperatures of steel (1700 to 18000K) when the system pressure is high (6.8 to 13.8 MPa)
