Procedure for the 140La separation from a radionuclide generator
Description
This invention concerns the continuous separation of pure 140La from a 140Ba/140La radionuclide generator containing silica gel or aluminium oxide as hydrophilic adsorbent. The 140Ba radionuclide parent is fixed at the adsorbent in an aqueous phase with a pH value of 9 to 10. The 140La radionuclide daughter is separated by a 0.2 M 8-hydrochinoline solution in chloroform or carbon tetrachloride. In order to repeat successfully the separation the elution direction must be reversed
