New investigation of α-decay of compound states

Description
The (n,α) reaction of 77Se, 145Nd, 171Yb and 177Hf nuclei has been investigated. The study was carried out by the time-of-flight method on the neutron beam from the IBR-30 pulsed reactor. The values obtained for average α-widths are in agreement with those calculated within the framework of the cluster model of α-decay. The following problems are discussed: the effect of deformation on the α-decay probability, and some deviations from the statistical relationships in the (n,α) reaction with resonance neutrons
