Impact of Fuel Assembly Deformation into Rod-by-Rod Power Distribution
Description
From 1994 a set of control rod sticking incidents have been a serious reason of concern for utilities and fuel manufacturers. After the main problem of shutdown margin loss has been solved, attention is being paid to the other consequences of the deformation of the fuel assemblies. In this paper the impact of this deformation on the local power peaks produced in the assembly periphery is analyzed using detailed Monte-Carlo calculations. Also the capability of the in-core instrumentation for detecting such power effects is evaluated. (author)
