Determination of the dielectric permittivity tensor of a crystal in transmitted light

Creators

Description

Methods have been proposed for determining complex dielectric permittivity tensors for crystals of unknown point symmetry. These are based on measurement of reflection tensors from three mutually perpendicular faces of a crystal or transmission tensors in three mutually perpendicular directions with normal incidence of light. A practical ellipsometric method for finding the reflection tensors from a crystal face that is based on measurement of the coherency tensors has also been proposed. A method has been reported for measuring transmission and reflection tensors that includes experimental determination of the intrinsic polarization states and measurement of complex amplitude coefficients of transmission and reflection
