K/Ar-age determinations of magmatites of the Pensacola Mountains, Antarctica

Description
Two age determinations on dike rocks from the Neptune Range yield a K/Ar-whole-rock age of 261.3 +- 7,5 mill. y. and 237 +- 25 mill. y. They prove a permo-triassic thermo-magmatic activization of the Weddell Sea Margin area. An age determination on a Gabbrosample from the Dufek-Massiv yield a K/Ar-whole-rock age of 126 +- 27 mill. y. The samples were collected during the 25. Soviet Antarctic Expedition in 1980. (author)
