Anatomic and flow MR imaging of pulmonary arteries in patients following single lung transplantation

Description

This paper studies pulmonary arterial anatomy and blood flow in patients after unilateral lung transplantation. Nine patients and nine controls matched for age and sex were examined. Spin-echo imaging and phase-shift velocity mapping were used to display vascular anatomy and to measure blood flow, respectively. No anatomic obstruction was demonstrated at the site of vascular anastomoses. Flow to the transplanted lung was 2.07 L/min per square meter ± 0.45 in the group with right-sided transplantation and 2.43 L/min per square meter ± 0.60 in the left-sided group compared with 1.22 L/min per square meter ± 0.22 and 1.27 L/min per square meter ± 0.41 in the control group, respectively
