Serial observations of porto-caval anastomoses with DSA

Description
In 37 patients with porto-caval shunts, the operation site was examined on 40 occasions by i.a. DSA (25 Warren shunts, four Linton shunts and eight Drapanas shunts). The problem of shunt persistence could be resolved on 39 occasions. Only once was it not possible to evaluate the shunt because of artifacts. Artifacts caused by breathing, peristalsis and low contrast in portal-venous segment did not prove serious problems in evaluating shunt patency. Intra-arterial DSA provides a comprehensive demonstration of the portal venous vascular territory and permits evaluation of post-operative haemodynamics. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Bei 37 Patienten mit Warren-Shunt (n=25), Linton-Shunt (n=4) und Drapanas-Shunt (n=8) wurde postoperativ der Gefaesssitus mittels 40 i.a. DSA-Untersuchungen kontrolliert. Die Frage der Shuntdurchgaengigkeit konnte bei 39 Untersuchungen beantwortet werden. Nur eine Untersuchung liess artefaktbedingt keine Beurteilung zu. Artefakte durch Atmung und Peristaltik und manchmal flaue Kontrastierung des portalvenoesen Gefaessschenkels stellen keine entscheidende Beeintraechtigung bei der Beurteilung der Durchgaengigkeit von Shunts dar. Die i.a. DSA erlaubt eine uebersichtliche Darstellung der gesamten portalvenoesen Gefaessregion einschliesslich einer Bewertung der postoperativen Haemodynamik. (orig.)Additional details
