Radioactive levels of tradiational building materials in Hubei and their contribution to radiation dose
Creators

Description
Natural radionuclide concentrations in traditional building materials from various regions of Hubei Province have been measured, resulting in a mean radium equivalent concentration of 0.58-5.25 pCi.g-1. The 226Ra content of age-old bricks was found to be lower than that of fresh bricks. The 226Rn emanation rate was 8.3 x 10-14 Ci.m-2.s-1 for experimental brick-concrete dwelling house. The indoor (external plus internal irradiation) annual effective dose equivalent was 1.25 mSv, of which 0.74 mSv was contributed by the natural radioactivity of building materials
