Extraction-photometric determination of niobium and tantalumusing rhodanide and triphenylguanidine

  • 1. Azerbajdzhanskij Gosudarstvennyj Pedagogicheskij Inst., Baku (USSR)

Description

Mixed-ligand complexes of niobium and tantalum, readily extracted into chloroform, are formed at excess triphenylguanidine (TPG) and thiocyanate in strongly acidic solutions. The molar ratios of the components in the extracted complexes are Nb:SCN-:TPG=1:3:2 and Ta:SCN-:TPG=1:2:1. The molar absorptives of the niobium and tantalum complexes are 4.1x104 and 2.6x104 respectively. A spectrophotometric method has been developed of determining niobium and tantalum (0.12-0.009%) in the presence of each other in steel with an error of 1.2-8.4 rel.%
