Functional test with the thyrotropic releasing-hormone in vitro
Description
Were studied the possibilities of the functional test with a thyrotropic releasing-hormone (TRH) in the diagnosis of the level of affection of the hormonal axis hypothalamus-hypophysis-thyroid gland. A total of 67 patients were examined: 24 with hyperthyrosis, 17 with primary hyperthyrosis, 12 with secondary hyperthyrosis of a hypothalamic nature, 14 with secondary hypothyrosis of a hypophysical nature. Using the sets of the ''Henning'' firm (FRG) the concentration of a thyrotropic hormone of the hypophysis (THH), thyroxin (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3) was determined before and after (in 30 min) intravenous administration of 400 μg of TRH. 12 healthypersons were also examined (the control group). In was established that in the norm an increase in the concentration of all the hormones studied was observed in response to the administration of TRH. In hyperthyrosis the reaction to the administration of TRH was uncertain. In primary hyperthyrosis an abrupt rise in the THH level was observed. The stability of the levels of all hormones is typical of secondary hyperthyrosis of a hypophysial nature. In secondary hyperthyrosis of a hypothalamic nature an increase in the TRH concentration with a constant level of T4 and T3 was noted
