Use of Kumakhov optics for medical imaging

  • 1. Inst. for Roentgen Optics, Moscow (Russian Federation)

Description

Three problems in medical imaging may be solved by use of Kumakhov optics: suppression of the radiation scattered in a phantom for improving the image contrast; increasing the spatial resolution for early diagnostic of a cancer; and decrease of the patient irradiation dose. For solution of these problems the authors used the polycapillary raster of d=5 cm, consisting of capillaries (Pb-containing) with diameter of channels 10 microns
