Radionuclides in human fetal tissues

Description
Investigations have been underway at NRPB since 1989 to measure the concentrations of artificial and natural radionuclides in human fetal tissues. The tissues were obtained from clinical terminations carried out during the second trimester of gestation. To date, samples from two areas of the UK have been studied, namely Oxfordshire and west Cumbria. Measurements have been made of 239+240Pu and the natural radionuclides 210Po, 210Pb, 238U and 232Th.
