LEU conversion status of US research reactors
Description
This paper summarizes the conversion status of U.S. research and test reactors and estimates uranium densities needed to convert reactors with power levels ≥1 MW from high-enriched uranium (HEU) (≥ 20% 235U) to low-enriched uranium (LEU) (<20% 235U) fuels. Detailed conversion studies for each reactor need to be completed to establish the feasibility of using LEU fuels
