Delayed recombination of iodide atoms
Description
Numerical and contradicted trials are analysed to explain delayed recombination of iodine atoms observed in inert gases (M) at bery small ratios (I2)/(M). Using data on trifluorodomethane laser photolysis, it is shown that the unique mechanism, explaining satisfactorily the whole set of the experimental results, is the mechanism connecting recombination retardation with strong difference of electron state relaxation velocities in collisions of electron-excited molecules I2 with inert gas atoms from the one hand and I2 molecules on the other hand
