Dry matter digestibility and volatile fatty acids production in berseem hay incubated in vitro
- 1. Indian Veterinary Research Inst., Izatnagar. Div. of Animal Nutrition
Description
In this communication an attempt has been made to study the in vitro dry matter digestibility of berseem hay and a comparison is made of dry matter digestibility of chaffed and ground berseem hay. Volatile fatty acids (VFA) were also estimated under in vitro incubation and compared with in vivo VFA production rates. For estimation of in vivo production rates of VFA, 14C-Na acetate was injected into the rumen. (author)
