Determination of the failure pressure of cracked spherical vessels

Description

Spherical vessels weakened by cracks through the entire thickness of the wall were studied experimentally. The results show that on large spheres the rupture is typically brittle whereas on small and medium size spheres a ductile type of failure is obtained

On a etudie experimentalement des recipients spheriques affaiblis par des entailles traversant entierement l'epaisseur de la paroi. Les resultats obtenus montrent que sur les grosses spheres, la rupture obtenue est typiquement fragile, alors que les petites et moyennes spheres montrent des ruptures de type ductile
