The adiabatic stability of stars containing magnetic fields
Description
An attempt is made to study the effect of uniform rotation on the instabilities discussed in previous papers of this series. Although rotation exerts some stabilizing influence, it does not seen likely that it removes most of the instabilities. In some cases complete stability may be produced but the rotation speed required is unrealistically high. In other cases the instability growth rate may be reduced but instabilities are still able to grow in a time which is very short compared to any time important in stellar evolution. All of these results are obtained from approximate treatments of the problems and they cannot be regarded as rigorously established. (author)
