First measurement of X radiation of Σ- atoms with the help of a crystal-diffraction spectrometer

Description
The intensity and energy of 5g-4f transition of Σ--12C atom has been measured at the IHEP proton synchrotron by means of a crystal-diffraction spectrometer. Mass of Σ- hyperon has been determined. The value (1197.417±0.040) MeV/c2 has been obtained. It is in a good agreement with the mass value, obtained from the researches on hyperon, decay and differens from the experiment with heavy Σ- atoms in BNL. The outlook of Σ--atoms study by crystal-diffraction the method using a target, exposed to high energy proton beam, is demonstrated
