Electromagnetic self-energy of charged fields in non-minkowskian spacetime and gauge dependence of mass renormalization
Description
The author takes 'spacetime' R X R2 X S1 as a simple example of non-minkowskian spacetime and calculates the electromagnetic self-energies of massive and massless charged fields with spin 0, 1/2 and 1 to second order in perturbation theory. It is found that massless scalar and vector fields acquire a gauge-dependent mass and the mass renormalization of massive scalar and vector fields are gauge-dependent, while a massless spinor field does not acquire a mass and the mass renormalization of a massive spinor field is gauge independent.
