Pulsed power technology
Description
A pulsed power technology, which is related to ion beam inertial confinement fusion, is reviewed. In the development of a super high voltage pulsed power system (output voltage = 30 MV) with controllability of pulse shape and capability of repetitive operation, an inductive voltage adder system with magnetic pulse compressor seems to be the best selection. On the other hand, a pulsed power generator using an inductive energy storage system is very attractive for its high density energy storage and the capability of high voltage, high current and short pulse, though the development of an opening switch is necessary.
