Basis generator method study of collisions between alpha particles and lithium-like ions

  • 1. Frankfurt Univ. (Germany). Inst. fuer Theoretische Physik

Description

Electron excitation, transfer and ionization in collisions between alpha particles and lithium-like ions are investigated by means of the basis generator method (BGM), a specific coupled-channel approach to the time-dependent Schroedinger equation. The gist of the BGM is the representation of the electronic wavefunction within a dynamically adapted finite model space including the physically accessible part of the electronic continuum. Theoretical results for total capture are in good agreement with recent experimental data. (orig.)
