Reference γ-sources for determining radioactive element content in liquid preparations

Description

For calibration of γ-spectrometers it is suggested that liquid model spectrometric sources of γ-radiation (LMSSGR) with certified full activity of a nucleide should be developed. To ensure long service life of LMSSGR they must comply with three basic requirements: their half life should be not less than 10 years, their ampoule should ensure air-tightness of the source for a long time, the ampoule material should posses low sorption of nuclides. Nuclear - physical characteristics of 137Cs, 133Ba, 152Eu and 241Am, comprised in LMSSGR set are given. Application of such sources for calibration of γ-spectrometers will promote an increase in γ-nuclide determination accurasy in liquid preparations, ensure unified measurements, simplify calibration, reduce consumption of model radioactive solutions and their effluents with wastes. 5 refs.; 1 tab
