Description
Technical developments and better means of evaluation and interpretation of radiographs of the mammary glands have considerably improved the situation in this diagnostic field in the last few years, especially with regard to radiographic findings difficult to assess, so that diagnostic results today are much more specific and reliable. The authors present numerous examples of pathologic and non-pathologic cases in order to explain the step-wise process of diagnostic assessment on the one hand, and the advantages of mammography with regard to subsequent therapy on the other. Die technischen Fortschritte auf dem Gebiet der Mammographie und die bessere Auswertung der Aufnahmen fuehrten in den letzten Jahren zu einer immer praeziseren und verlaesslicheren Diagnose, insbesondere bei diagnostisch schwierig zu deutenden Befunden. Anhand zahlreicher pathologischer und nicht pathologischer Fallbeispiele erlaeutern die Autoren einerseits das schrittweise Vorgehen bei der Diagnose und andererseits auch die Vorteile der Mammographie fuer die Therapiewahl in bestimmten Faellen.
