Helium cryogenic plant for biomedical research
Description
Pions are a promising weapon in radiotherapy. To release them, superconducting magnets are needed, which require considerable cooling. Cryogenic plants for this purpose cool helium refrigerant down to around -2690C. The plant in use at the Swiss Institute for Nuclear Research at Villigen is described. (Auth.)
