Description

The development of electronic/electrical technology has penetrated into various other technological fields including nuclear technology. Electromagnetic wave is one of the elements of the technology used, and its use has both positive and negative impacts. For this reason, regulations are needed in the form of standards that must be obeyed by producers of the electronic/electrical technology. In this paper, we will examine the importance of EMC-standardization of equipment and their accredited testing laboratories as well as additional requirements for nuclear equipment EMC-testing laboratories. Several EMC-standards along with their testing laboratories and legal instruments related to the use of radioactive sources were reviewed to obtain information on how EMC-testing for nuclear equipment should be carried out. Standard SNI/IEC on EMC, Standard SNI ISO/IEC 17025 on testing laboratories, UU. RI. Number 10 of 1997, PP. RI No. 33 of 2007, PP. RI No. 5 of 2021, and BAPETEN Regulation No. 6 of 2015 became the basis for action in determining the operation of the EMC-testing laboratory. EMC-testing laboratories for nuclear equipment requiring a radioactive source may be conducted in general EMC-Testing laboratories with an additional requirement of the presence of a Radiation Protection & Safety Officer and a Radiation Protection & Safety Program when the test is run. Permission for the presence of a radioactive material rests to the owner of the nuclear equipment being tested, which can be delegated to the officer appointed during the test. (author)
