Radon in the air of residential premises on the territory of Belarus

Description
Experimental data on indoor radon concentrations in residential premises on the territory of Belarus are presented. Passive track detector method was used to carry out the indoor radon monitoring. The research has shown that in about 2% of residential premises in Belarus the annual equivalent equilibrium radon concentration exceeds the established limit of 200 Bq/m3. This results in annual effective doses to population due to radon inhalation higher than 10 mSv. For these premises a set of measures has to be developed and implemented to reduce the radon concentrations. (authors)
