On variation of nonequilibrium charge distribution parameters in fast ion beams on increase of charge-exchange target thickness

Description

Nonequilibrium charge composition of nitrogen ion beams at E=0.084, 0.33 and 0.75 MeV/nucleon and initial charge i0=1-7 were investigated after their transmission through nitrogen targets of different thickness. Dependences of the mean charge i-vector, semiwidth d and slope s of charge distribution on the charge-exchange target thickness were investigated. It is shown that functions i-vector(t) and s(t) are monotonous practically always, but the functions d(t) have a maximum, if deviation Δi0=i-vectorp (i-vectorp is the equilibrium mean charge) is greater than the equilibrium semiwidth dp
