Status of national programs on fast reactors in Korea
Description
Two main objectives of the Korean nuclear power research program are enhancement of technological capabilities and self reliant technology development for peaceful uses of nuclear energy. Liquid metal design technology development program has an important role. Conceptual design of KALIMER concept was completed in March 2002. It is an advanced liquid metal cooled reactor with a heterogeneous core and thermal output of 392 MW. Experiments were conducted to validate the computer codes, to characterise safety features of sodium and develop basic sodium technology
