Observation of magnetic and nuclear phase shifts of neutrons by interferometry
- 1. Tokyo Univ. (Japan). Inst. for Solid State Physics
Description
The variation of intensities of O-(transmitted) and H-(diffracted) neutron beams from a perfect crystal neutron interferometer of LLL type was measured, using both non-magnetic and ferromagnetic materials as phase shifters. The visibilities of the intensity oscillation curves of O- and H-beams changed as a function of the rotation angle of the ferromagnetic plate owing to the magnetic double refraction of neutrons. The agreement between experimental results and calculated ones was well. (author)
