Description

The method of Compton spectrometry is presented how an efficient technique for measurement of the photon beam spectrum of high energy produced in lineal accelerator and cobalt therapy machines, used in treatment of patients with cancer. In this work we made the characterization of a Compton spectrometer with the objective of measurement of the Pulse Height Spectrum (PHS) for a clinical Co-60 machine, for obtain the photon fluence spectrum of the machine; for thus we can to apply this method in measurement and reconstruction of Bremsstrahlung spectrum of a clinical linear accelerator. We made the characterization of NaI(Tl) detector, obtaining a energy response function for the Compton spectrometer and we made the measurement of pulse height spectrum in Compton configuration for energies of X-ray from 70 to 100 kV, with Compton angle of 90 deg with the end of testing the response of the spectrometer at this energies to then measure pulse height spectrum for a Co-60 machine at several Compton angles.
