Description
Pion interactions with light nuclei can be used to study the interaction mechanisms for pions with bound nucleons, to test the validity of a variety of many-body techniques, to learn about nuclear structure, and to check fundamental physical principles. At the Clinton P. Anderson Meson Physics Facility (LAMPF) we have measured the elastic scattering of π+- mesons on 3H and 3He at momenta of 232, 252 and 295 MeV/c. Besides checking pion reaction models, elastic scattering can be used to study differences in the 3H and 3He wave functions, and to test charge symmetry. (orig./WL)

Pionwechselwirkungen mit leichten Kernen koennen zur Untersuchung der Wechselwirkungsmechanismen zwischen Pi-Mesonen und gebundenen Nukleonen, zum Test der Gueltigkeit einer Reihe von Vielteilchenmethoden, zum Verstaendnis der Kernstruktur und zum Test fundamentaler physikalischer Prinzipien herangezogen werden. An der Clinton P. Anderson Mesonenfabrik (LAMPF) wurde die elastische Streuung von π+--Mesonen an 3H und 3He bei Impulsen von 232, 252 und 295 MeV/c gemessen. Die elastische Streuung kann zur Untersuchung von Unterschieden in den 3H- und 3He-Wellenfunktionen, zum Test von Pi-Mesonen-Reaktionsmodellen und zur Ueberpruefung der Ladungssymmetrie verwendet werden.
