Description

Pd(II) complexes with mixed ligand of the type [Pd(L2)2(L1)2]Cl2 where L1 = tris-4-choloro phenyl phosphine, L2 = thiourea, methylthiourea, dimethylthiourea, tetramethylthiourea, pyridine-2(1H)-thione, pyrimidine-2(1H)-thione, pyridine-4(1H)-thione and 1H-purine-6(9H)-thione were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis and spectroscopic techniques (FT-IR, 1H, 13C, 31P NMR). The synthesized complexes were screened for biological activities like antibacterial, antioxidant, antitumor and anticancer. Antibacterial activity data reveals that some of compounds showed significant activity against both gram positive and gram negative bacteria as compared to that of a standard drug. Antitumor screening of these compounds against Human cervical carcinoma cells Hela (ATCC No CCl-2) and human breast cancer cell line MCF-7 showed comparable results with doxorubicin, used as standard drug.
