Disappearance and distribution of 14C-chlorfenvinphos and some of its metabolities in the carrot plants
Description
The pot experiments in glasshouse on residues of chlorfenvinphos in carrot plants have been carried out. A granular preparation containing 10% 14C-chlorfenvinphos was used at the seed time of the variety Lenka. The radioactivity was determined separately in the leaves, in the scraped roots and in the exodermis being scraped off. In the early consumption stage the residues of chlorfenvinphos were still fairly high, in the roots prepared for consumption being 0.21-0.67 mg/kg depending on the dose applied. In the stage of full ripeness no residues of chlorfenvinphos have been detected in the scraped roots. Some amounts of 2 metabolities, 2,4-dichlorophenacyl chloride and 2,4-dichloroacetophenone, have been found mainly in the leaves and in root exodermis. Considering, however, the amount of chlorfenvinphos residues determined in the early consumption stage as well as the rate of their disappearance, also in field investigations, the application of this compound for carrot plant protection seems to be non-advisable.
