Fastbus system. Present state, problems, and future prospects (review)

This article describes the present state of the design, development and utilization of the fast modular electronic system FASTBUS. Individual components of the system such as mechanical units, power supplies, service, system and special-purpose modules are briefly described. The system software is reviewed. Operating demonstration and experimental FASTBUS systems, as well as plans to use the system in future experiments are described. Unsolved problems concerning the FASTBUS system and future prospects of its application are considered
