Encapsulation and quality evaluation of 57Co source for radiometric assay of nuclear fuel rods
Creators
- 1. Radiopharmaceuticals Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)
Description
An encapsulation method for the confinement of 57Co source cores in an aluminum capsule has been developed and demonstrated. The design of the capsule, method of encapsulation and the quality assurance practice followed were described. Circular source core of 57Co containing ∼ 370 MBq (10 mCi) deposited on a copper foil of 4 mm dia could be safely encapsulated. Quality assurance tests of the sealed sources were performed to ensure safety during their use and application. (author)
