Description
The paper is devoted to the description of the accelerators and colliding beam facilities with the energies from 70 GeV up to almost 40 TeV in the c.m.s. The basic principles of designing such facilities and the ways to increase the energy and intensity of the accelerated particle beams are described. As examples we consider here the IHEP proton synchrotron, CERN accelerating-storage complex, FNAL accelerators (USA), electron-positron storage complex at Hamburg (FRG) and Stanford linear accelerator (USA)
