Stereotactic observation of CT scan

  • 1. Kawatetsu Chiba Hospital, Chiba (Japan)

Description

A method to obtain a stereoscopic image by processing the data gained by means of a conventional CT scan is described in detail. The stereoscopic view is possible by observing a pair of films made by this method by means of binocular vision. Additional X-ray exposure is not necessary to make the pair of films. The pair of films consist of one ''superimposed'' film and one ''reference'' film. The superimposed film is made by superimposing all the slice images on a single film. The reference film is made by displacing each slice, bit by bit, on a film. The exposure time of each slice is reduced to avoid the density saturation of the film. A few examples are shown. A possible way to improve this method is also presented. (author)
