Experimental evidence of X-ray line reabsorption in a laser plasma

Description

By using a suitable target geometry, opacity of X-ray emission has been measured on an aluminium laser created plasma. By means of simple theoretical models optical depths are inferred and seem to be in accordance with Stark and Doppler line broadening

Abstract (French)

Moyennant une geometrie de cible appropriee, la reabsorption du rayonnement X issu d'un plasma d'aluminium cree par une impulsion laser de longueur d'onde 1064nm, a ete mesuree pour des raies Lyman. Par l'intermediaire de modeles, des epaisseurs optiques sont deduites et semblent en accord avec les theories impliquant l'elargissement de raies par effets Stark et Doppler
