Making of concentrated Nd from monazite sand by precipitation

Description

Nd is the third mayor element in monazite sand. Making of Nd concentrated was done as the first step of separation and purification of Nd. Concentrated of Nd can be made by fractional and multistage precipitation. After separation of Ce was produced solution consist of La and Nd as mayor element. Adding of NH4NO3, Cd(NO3)2 and NH4OH to order pH of precipitation was obtained precipitate was enrich of Nd and filtrate was enrich of La. The optimum condition at precipitation of 100 ml nitric solution by product separation of Ce by adding 10 ml of NH4NO3 20%, 3 ml of Cd(NO3)2 10%, pH of precipitation is 8 and stage of precipitation is XV. At this condition Nd: total of element without Nd is 1.1293 (in monazite sand is 0.1747), precipitation efficiency of Nd is 87.89% and efficiency of La is 13.38 %. (author)
