Transport description of heavy-ion reactions

  • 1. Max-Planck-Institut fuer Kernphysik, Heidelberg (Germany, F.R.)

Description

These three lectures are based on the authors review paper Transport Theories of Heavy-Ion Reactions (Preprint MP1 4-1978-V29). The first lecture contains a macroscopic description of deeply-inelastic heavy-ion collisions in terms of transport equations and gives a phenomenological introduction to the use of Fokker-Planck equations. The second discusses the validity of the use of transport equations in nuclei in terms of characteristic time scales and the third gives a summary of various approaches to calculate transport coefficients in the nuclear context.
